Dori Boyd earned a Certificate of Photography in 2006 from Samford University’s “After Sundown Metro College” program with combined coursework from UAB’s Special Studies in photography.  Shutterbug Magazine chose one of her yoga images for the cover of their internationally distributed September 2011 issue.  From 2013-2014, Ms Boyd has exhibited a photographic series of Alabama Civil Rights Landmarks in several major venues around Birmingham, including the Civil Rights Institute.  She is a regular participant in local art shows and past president of the Shades valley Camera Club from 2010-2012.

Dori’s approach as a digital photographer is to frame and capture her subjects at a magical moment and in good light to reveal their best qualities!  These images may be landscapes, architecture and people from her travels in the U.S. and abroad, urban scenes here locally in Birmingham, Alabama or the back roads and cornfields from the outskirts of her hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Dori’s strength lies in her composition and she considers her style of photography to have a modern yet timeless quality.  Many of the images are in classic black and white, glowing warm tones, vibrant or lightly colored, which extracts each one their true essence.  She prints her work on fine art paper and canvas wraps are also available.
